Vastu can prove to be a helpful tool for you and your loved ones. Below are a few easy tips you can follow.

1. Bring in Plants
To purify the indoor environment, and to improve mental health there is nothing better than havign plants at home—they help liven up your surroundings. Some of vastu-verified varities are Basil or Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Ficus, Pothos or Money plant, and Areca Palm.

2. Clean the Home With Rock Salt
Pink rock salt can effectively improve the indoor environment. The powerful wind element present in these crystals eliminates negative energy. Place a bowl of rock salt in the four corners of your room. The salt can also be used to clean the floor once a week; it helps clear any airborne virus and bacteria. The bowl can be placed near a person who’s ill to generate good energy. Keep changing salt crystals regularly.

3. Save Water
According to vastu, water is a great source of health and wealth, and its wastage can create serious health issues. Keeping a bowl filled with water for birds and strays is a great vastu remedy, and will positively affect your well-being.

4. Store Food in the Right Place
Grains and other food should be stocked in the south-west direction of the kitchen as it invites good luck and prosperity and, consequently promotes healthy food habits which are the need of the hour.

5. Burn Camphor 
Burning camphor at home at least once a week can help remove negative energies. A blend of neem or lemongrass can effectively purify the air.

6. Have a Clutter-Free Entrance
A clean, well-dusted and clutter-free entrance helps attract positivity within a home. Wiping the entrance with rock salt-infused-water every day prevents the entryway from becoming a neglected zone, which attracts negativity.

7. Display Fruits 
A basket full of fruits can enhance your mood. A combination of colourful fruits in a beautiful basket, placed at the centre table can invite a healthy lifestyle. Mounting a picture of the same in a prominent corner of your home can also promote healthy energy.

8.  Bring in Light
A well-illuminated entrance, whether naturally or artificially, ensures a feeling of positivity within the household. Ample light can be achieved by the structural inclusion of a window next to the entryway, or with the placement of a lamp or diya outside the entrance.

9. Choose Art Carefully
In order to stop the negative flow of energy in the living room, remove all art that depicts pain, sadness or sorrow. Additionally, any broken products such as photo frames or mirrors, and devices which no longer work should be instantly removed to prevent the accumulation of negativity in the house.

10. Have a Well-Lit Bathroom
Ventilation is an essential feature in bathroom vastu. The bathroom window and exhaust fan should always be directed towards the north-east. This helps eliminate any form of bacteria, and hence stimulates a clean and hygienic environment.


Ageing is the process of getting older. Ageing is an important part of all human societies reflecting the biological changes that occur, but also reflecting cultural and societal conventions. Vaastu shastra can support the process of ageing and create a positive impact on wellbeing.

Aging is inevitable, but its most negative effects can be minimized and turned into a graceful progression. Exercise and proper diet are key factors. But, when your living or working environment is in harmony with nature, it has a positive influence on your well being, slowing the aging process.

Each of the five elements is associated with a compass point and each point has a specific impact on our health. Different aspects of positive aging are optimally supported by a specific direction. Ageing is also affected by environmental stress, which is the cause of most human disease.

The earth is a magnetic force and is composed of the five elements, as is our brain. The thalamus is the relay center for all sensory and motor skills in the brain. Neurological research has shown that the firing patterns of neurons in the thalamus function differently depending on which direction one is facing; Our mind is then the interactive result of the affect of tie magnetic field on our brain cells.

By placing our bodies and environments in alignment with the magnetic axis, we can think and act more compatibly with nature. Our actions will be more attuned to the five elements, much like swimming with the stream as opposed to swimming against it. For example, studies have shown that sleeping with ones head to the south or east puts one in accord with the powerful forces of nature.

The north-east area of your residence is associated with the water element. This direction is the source of favorable magnetic energy from the north and positive solar energy from the east.

Our residence needs to be very open in the north-east to receive these benefits. The northeast influences growth of the physical body. The north-east is good for home entrances.

If this region has proper Vaastu Shastra, good health will be supported. If there is a kitchen, clutter, a toilet, heating system or blockage in the north-east the water element will be decreased which will cause congestion.

The south-east area of your residence coincides with the fire element. The south-east influences the energy required for good health. Kitchens, heating and electrical systems work well in the southeast.

If this area is in accordance with Vaastu Shastra health will be better. If there is a cut or blockage, there will be a lack of energy and health will suffer.

The south-west area of your residence is aligned with the earth element. The southwest contributes to the strength of your body.

If your bed is in the south, or south-west area of your residence with your head to the south or east, you will be vigorous. If there is a cut, toilet or heating source, there will be some health and back problems.
